Accessibility

Last updated: 2026-10-19

This page describes accessibility work built into the Morse code translator and how to report barriers. It is a practical summary of what the site aims to support, not a formal conformance claim against a named standard.

What is in place

  • A skip link to jump to the main content.
  • Keyboard-operable controls with visible focus styles and large enough tap targets on primary actions.
  • Translator mode choices exposed as a labelled radiogroup, with clear pressed and selected states.
  • Live status updates for decoding and related actions through an accessible announcement region.
  • Light and dark themes with accent colours chosen for readable contrast on the page background.
  • Honouring reduced-motion preferences where decorative transitions would otherwise run.

Microphone and tap modes

Listen (mic) and Tap input are optional modes. Microphone access is requested only when you start listening, and it can be denied or revoked in the browser. If a mode is hard to use with your assistive technology, say so when you write in so the barrier can be fixed.

Report a barrier

Email [email protected] or use the Contact page. Include the page address, what you were trying to do, the browser or assistive technology if you know it, and what went wrong. Related pages: About, Privacy, and Terms of Use.
